Dev Update: Precipice (9/10/2026)
Precipice design moves ahead, and this time, the main focus is the forthcoming revamp of encounters! Plus, two kinds of primer: a new Fiction Primer about a few ways the Precipice may manifest on various worlds, and new shots of primed miniatures from the Arbelos setting!
Mechanics Update: Enigmatic Encounters
Encounters determine the scope and scale of the battle, as well as the conditions for defeat and victory. The Precipice Open Alpha has been chugging along with three very basic encounters, but the cracks are beginning to show in these early, off-the-cuff designs. That’s no big surprise, but it means now is a good time to reflect on what’s working and what will be updated in the forthcoming Open Alpha v1.2.
Read about Encounters, Enigmas, and how the game will reflect the unpredictable nature of the Precipice today!
Fiction Primer: Precipice Manifestations
The Precipice is a space between worlds, but it doesn’t interact in the same way with every world it touches. This week’s fiction primer digs into the specifics of how it manifests on the world of Arbelos, as well as some other examples of ways the Precipice can leak through into a given reality.
Prime Time
Fall in Minnesota means the humidity is down (occasionally). That means it’s time to seize the moment and spray prime! Here are a couple of the machines I’m preparing for a paint job: the M-Trak Version A (mechanical design by Tim Taylor, sculpt by Sebastian Gsell) and Version B (mechanical design by Tim Taylor, sculpt by Alex Edinger). I love the contrast between these two designs, and the way they feel both consistent with each other and yet very distinct in silhouette.
And that about sums up the week’s news. Open Alpha Version 1.2 will be forthcoming soon, along with more news about Preview Kits. Stay tuned!
