Dev Update: Precipice (10/16/2026)
What’s new in world of Precipice development this week? There’s a new introductory encounter (featuring a new mech we hinted at last week) to test, interview questions and an article from Timothy Linward of Wargamer, and a new fiction primer. Read on for details!
Playtest Encounter: Crash Course
Crash Course is a new introductory encounter you can play today! Focused on teaching the basics of piloting, Crash Course takes 1-4 players on a slalom course through a training ground littered with deadly debris and supplies to be scavenged. Pilot your mech precisely (but quickly) to score the most points, and watch out for other pilots headed the opposite direction!
Crash Course includes a new encounter, plus two printable mech sheets for the L-Trak, allowing you to quickly print out the new resources you’ll need for this introductory encounter.
Read or download it on the Open Alpha page (or go directly to it, here)!
And here are some photos of Thursday’s test of the scenario!
Interview with Wargamer
A little while ago, Timothy Linward of Wargamer reached out with some questions about my design background, what I wanted to emphasize about mech action in Precipice, and my favorite mecha series. His article is now available to read here!
Timothy asked some really interesting questions, and if you want to hear me ramble about these topics even further, the full Q&A session is here.
Fiction Primer: Sources of Power
This week’s fiction primer covers the ways in which mechs are powered in the worlds of Precipice. From the technological to the mystical, read about these energy sources and what makes them so vital to the giant robots they power!
