Dev Update: Precipice (7/30/2026)

I am not at GenCon. But I’ll let you in on a secret. Precipice is! Several of the folks working on the game were kind enough to take along some early preview resources, and if you run into them, you might get a chance to see a preview of the game components earlier than we’d originally predicted!

Let’s catch you up on Precipice development this week!

Precipice Preview Kits are In!

I’ve received the first set of Precipice Preview Kits earlier than expected. These are locally printed card packs containing Part cards for three full mechs, two Pilot cards, two sets of Input cards, and five Gear cards. Each pack has the new components you need to get the game to the table, and three sets of Part cards you can bring to build a wide variety of mechs you might want to bring to the table!

I want to make it easy for people to test the game without having to do a bunch of printing and cutting. Print and Play is great, but the fact is that many times, it’s a barrier to getting things to the table. Next week, I’ll provide more info on how you can get your hands on one of these!

You might notice that these cards also have a number of elements not reflected in Open Alpha version 1.0 (including Jod Gulle’s awesome graphic elements and new silhouettes by Javier Holguin). Worry not, printer-friendly versions will also be available online alongside Open Alpha version 1.1!

Also, because they came in early, I was able to send a few copies along to GenCon. If you’re in attendance this year, you might see one in the wild!

Swarmworld Arcturus 2: Gilfaethwy

Maris’ story continues in the second Swarmworld Arcturus chapter! What has caused Gilfaethwy to attack the new mechafauna? And can she save a new friend without harming an old one? Check out Brandon Perdue’s latest story now!

Studio News: Wild Plum Game(s) Jam 2026

Technically this isn’t a Precipice update, but Wild Plum Games held its first (annual?) game jam on Friday 7/24/2026. Starting at 2:00pm and ending at 7:00pm, we rapidly designed and tested a quick-playing story game called One Reset Roguelike! You can read about this process, and why I love game jams (and game jellies) in this blog update!
