What has been going on in Precipice this week? Mostly work on Open Alpha v1.2, our next big update. This update will be landing very soon, but in the mean time, we have some other news, including…
Gatewatcher Sculpt In-Progress Preview
First things first, let’s start with the exciting visual preview! Sculptor Alex Edinger has sculpted several of the awesome mechs you’ve seen already (such as the M-Trak B and U-Trak for Arbelos), and now he turns his talents to the great harness of Premonta, Gatewatcher.
There are still some updated details coming together for the final piece (more on that soon - we love a good historical armor reference around here!), but we couldn’t wait to show off such a cool sculpt!
Fiction Primer: Layers of the Precipice
The Precipice is consistent in only a few ways, first among which is its inconsistency. As different worlds blend together, strange phenomena take shape. Still, there are probabilities and trends one can observe as one moves further and further from the binding center of one reality and into the depths of uncertainty. This week’s Fiction Primer delves into a couple of the enigmas you might encounter in the updated Enigma Table for Open Alpha Version 1.2, and where they have appeared in past stories!

Beta UI Feedback Survey
Early graphic design draft for feedback purposes.

Even though we’re still in the Open Alpha, work on elements of the Precipice Beta (our next major phase of testing) is already under way. The Open Alpha has some great graphic design elements by skilled graphic designers like Jod Gulle, but it also features a lot of Dubious Max Originals, including many of the game’s icons. These icons won’t be updated until the end of the Alpha, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start testing whether the icons for the Beta (and beyond) evoke the right ideas.
So if you’re interested in helping out on Precipice development, this week you’ve got a chance to participate by taking a short survey on some early icon designs. Even (actually, especially) if you haven’t tried the game yet, we’d love to get your thoughts on a couple of icons. What do they say to you when you see them, and why?
You can take the survey here!
